Breakfast in bed is a Mother's Day tradition for many families. Not sure what to make? Read on for breakfast inspiration that kids can help with. From simple avocado toast to crepes and pancakes, find all kinds of ways to spoil her! Gift ideas can also be found here.

Or... if you are a mom like us, forward this blog to your family! 😉

Avocado Toast with Feta

The easiest meal to make with young kids, plus a delicious treat for mom. With Livia Bakery's country sourdough, you can't go wrong! Customize your avocado toast to her tastes by including a fried egg, sliced tomato, nutritional yeast, feta, pickled onions or fresh greens.

Serve with a hot cup of coffee or rooibos chai tea.

Coconut Banana Pancakes
Keep it simple and use the Acorn's pre-made pancake mix to make fluffy vegan pancakes but dress them up with shredded coconut, sliced bananas and a homemade maple cinnamon butter.

Maple Cinnamon Butter Recipe:
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp maple syrup
4 tbsp of salted butter (softened)
1 tsp of vanilla extract

Combine butter in a small bowl and serve over hot pancakes!

Serve with a matcha latte.

Orange and Honey Crepes with Coconut Yogurt

If you have older kids this might be a fun new dish to try making with them on Mother's Day. Use my mom's recipe for crepes, topped with Cara Cara oranges and dried orange for crunch. With dollops of honey and coconut yogurt, this might just become a family favourite!

Crepe Recipe:
2 cups of milk
1 cup of flour
2 eggs
pinch of salt

Blend in blender until smooth and use canola oil for the pan.

Top with your choice of:

  • Oranges and coconut yogurt
  • Lemon and sugar
  • Maple syrup
  • Berries

Serve with fresh squeezed orange juice or turmeric ginger tea!
