Bannock is an indigenous frybread also known as a baked simple bread. Indigenous families often have their own version of this recipe, and each variation is so special! Bannock is extremely versatile, and can be eaten sweet or savoury. When fried, some people are reminded of fried chicken, some people reminded of donuts. Try it with cinnamon sugar, butter and jam or even use as a taco shell. Plus, this is an easy recipe for older kids to make who are comfortable around a stove.

Classic Golden Fried Bannock Recipe

You will need:

Enough oil to generously fill the bottom of a pan
1.5 cups lukewarm water
1 jar of Bannock Mix

Pour contents into large bowl, mix thoroughly. Remove 1/3 cup and set aside.
Slowly pour water into centre while mixing, being careful not to overknead.
Coat slightly sticky dough in remaining dry mix, separate into 8 pieces.
Fry in oil on medium for approx 2 minutes each side, or until golden brown.

Ingredients: Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, Pink Himalayan Salt
